Why we check contrast before you export.
Most QR code generators let you pick any colors you want. Almost none of them tell you when those colors won’t actually scan. That gap is where most of the “my QR code looks fine but nothing can read it” problems come from — a foreground and background that are close enough in contrast to look like a nice, subtle palette on screen, and too close for a phone camera to tell the modules apart.

- Why does Modul warn me about color contrast?
- Low contrast between the foreground and background is the single most common reason a QR code fails to scan. Modul checks the contrast ratio between your two colors live, as you pick them, and flags it before you export — not after you've already printed a batch.
- PNG or SVG — which should I export?
- SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size — best for print, posters, packaging, or anything that might get resized later. PNG is simpler for quick digital use, like a slide, PDF, or social post.
- Does adding a logo make my QR code harder to scan?
- Modul automatically raises the error-correction level when a logo is added, which builds in enough redundancy for the code to still read correctly with the center partially covered. It's still worth doing a real scan test before printing at any scale.
- How much margin does my QR code need?
- That empty border — the quiet zone — helps a scanner find the edges of the code. Modul keeps it between 16–64px for that reason; shrinking it too far can make a code unreliable, especially printed small.
